ABOUT

LK Atelier was formally established in 2010 but was actually born two decades ago on Kaimana Beach on the Hawaiian Island Oahu. Childhood friends Leela and Kari Anne combine their passion, style, talent, and dedication to achieve their youthful dream of creating a unique, wearable, and collectible line of jewelry.

The result: LK Atelier.

Leela was born in Thailand and raised in Honolulu. Her mother is a great-granddaughter of King Mongkut of Siam, the Thai king portrayed in the Broadway classic "The King and I". It was she who instilled in her daughter a deep appreciation for the Thai traditions of jewelry craftsmanship, artistry and creative endeavors as a whole.

Leela was educated at Punahou School, where she was lucky enough to experience both glassblowing and jewelry as part of her artistic training. She would later earn her PhD at UC Berkeley in linguistics with an emphasis in Thai language and cultural expression. Fluent in Thai and French, life took her to live in Paris, where she refined her aesthetic for fashion and art.

Facets of east, west, and Polynesia all sparkle in Leela's style and design, and each of her pieces is inspired by the shimmering colors and textures of Thailand, infused with the primal natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. LK Atelier jewelry allures like the scent of the jasmine flower - native to Thailand and called Pikake in Hawaii. The pieces exude elegance, sensuality, fun and sophistication.

Kari Anne also grew up in Honolulu and attended Punahou School, with her classmate and lifelong friend, Leela. From the start, Kari Anne was dedicated to making her claim in the world of fashion.

As a print and runway model, Kari Anne was exposed to all aspects of the fashion world, from designers to art directors, photographers to stylists. She developed an uncanny intuition on what it takes to complete a look, express one's style through clothing and jewelry, and make a statement.

After high school in Hawaii, Kari Anne attended Marymount College in New York, earning her degree in fashion merchandising and business. For the last 20+ years Kari Anne has been part of the jewelry universe, having worked in management for many of the top international luxury jewelry houses and watch brands in the world.
